On October 25, three vessels equipped with dual-fuel propulsion systems under the EPC turnkey interior outfitting project undertaken by KAM for Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding’s 119K series were successfully delivered at the shipyard.
During the COVID-19 outbreak in Shanghai, KAM’s project team responded quickly after receiving the shipyard’s approval to commence construction. The team immediately implemented closed-loop management measures to ensure the project progressed smoothly under strict epidemic prevention conditions. Despite the challenging circumstances, the team successfully completed the superstructure interior outfitting works for two vessels ahead of schedule while maintaining high quality standards, earning recognition from the shipowner and laying a solid foundation for the subsequent smooth delivery of the remaining vessels.
KAM was responsible for the design, fabrication, and installation of interior spaces, including officer cabins, dining areas, recreation spaces, and other accommodation areas across the vessel series. To reduce visual fatigue during long ocean voyages, the cabins and public spaces incorporate nature-inspired wall graphics featuring green plant motifs, complemented by warm-toned furnishings. This design concept allows crew members living onboard for extended periods to experience a sense of comfort, relaxation, and connection to nature.
In addition to these vessels, the project series also includes four additional dual-fuel energy-efficient tankers contracted by the company with Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding, alongside other large vessel projects currently under construction at the shipyard. Each vessel is equipped with two independent C-type LNG fuel tanks and powered by WinGD low-pressure dual-fuel main engines, achieving a range of approximately 14,000 nautical miles in gas mode. These vessels demonstrate key characteristics of environmental sustainability, energy efficiency, and operational safety.
Three vessels in the series have already been delivered consecutively, earning high recognition from the shipowner, who issued a formal letter of appreciation to the KAM project team.
